V for Vendetta
Caught V for Vendetta last night, enjoyed it immensely. A few months ago, I read the comic, and had one of those rare "Oh shit!" moments at a certain plot point. The film while somewhat different than its source material is fairly faithful until the end. V is a good character, and is played by Hugo Weaving from The Matrix. Weaving is superb in his acting job, you never see his face, but V comes off as as fully developed character anyway. What surprises me is that a studio put out a film like this, the political undertones are about as subtle as a boot to your head. The allegorical elements are thinly veiled. All the better I guess to wake up the sleeping masses out there in suburbia. Way better than The Matrix.....
